A senior lecturer of political science at the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka, Enugu state, has warned that the Nigerian government's designation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organisation could radicalise the group. Similarly, Idayat Hassan, the
director of Abuja-based centre for democracy and development faulted the
decision of the government to treat IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in the same

much,” she said. Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted an
order declaring the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist
organisation. According to Sahara Reporters, this followed an order which was
filed by the attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, on Wednesday,
September 20. The court proscribed the existence of the group all over the
country especially in the southeast declaring its activities as “acts of
