Reports say hundreds of the supporters of the
Peoples Democratic Party have stormed the headquarters of the
Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protest against rerun elections ordered
by the electoral umpire on Sunday, September 13 in Osun.
The Punch reports that the protesters were
armed with placards carrying various inscriptions including: ‘No To rerun’;
‘INEC, don’t conspire with APC’; ‘The people spoke on Saturday, announce the
results’ among others.
The report said the protesters condemned INEC’s
decision not to declare Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP the winner of the
election having scored the highest number of votes in the poll. According to
them, the people of the state spoke through their votes.
They argued that the majority of the voters
wanted Adeleke as the state governor and that should be respected. Source: UNN
