GOVERNOR of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Dr.
Godwin Emefiele, will on Thursday discuss how Nigerians should
position their
mind sets to succeed in the present Nigerian economic and socio-political
environment.
The CBN Governor will mount the University of
Nigeria Nsukka podium in a convocation lecture where he has been chosen as the
guest lecturer to discuss ‘Mind set for Succeeding in Today’s Nigeria’.
He will be joined at the convocation by the Sultan
of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, who will be awarded
an Honorary Doctorate Degree of the University as a distinguished public
servant.
In the same vein, chairman of Slok Group of
companies and publisher of The Sun Newspaper, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu will also be
awarded an honorary doctorate degree of the university, same as the chairman of
Zenith Bank Plc, Mr. Jim Ovia.
Disclosing itenary of the
47th convocation ceremony of the university in a press briefing at Enugu campus
of the University, Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Chukwuma Ozumba
said that the university will also confer the title of Professor Emeritus on
eight of its renowed professors, who have served the university, meritoriously
and are still making invaluable contributions to its academics.
Ozumba stated that a total of 9, 298 graduands will
participate in the convocation with 7, 830 as first Degrees, Diploma and
Certificate holders, including a total of 132 first class graduands.
He also said that other categories of the graduands
include 1, 468 postgraduate Degree and Diploma graduates and 331 Doctor of
Philosophy Degree, PhD, holders.
Ozumba also used the
opportunity to recount some of the recent achievements of the university to
include a Laptop Assembly plant in Nsukka campus, 45.9 hectares of land for
science park, collaborations with Guangxi Academy of Sciences China, M ichigan
State University, among other feats
